Default Strange & Unusual Marking

Has anyone ever seen a marking like this? It appears on the left hand side of the bottom of the frame near the left grip screw. Sorry I can't get a better picture.

It almost appears to be 3 upper-case script letters.

This is on the frame of a 1908 Commercial-Army.

Would appreciate any comments.

Thanks,
Luke

Wonder if one of our German members could tell me what the letters are?

Not sure the orientation is correct.
