This is a very impressive auction, but just as here in the US, you have to be very careful.
Item 15476 is a 1904/06 Navy First Issue â?? Altered (ge¤derter manueller Sicherung). It is listed as refinished (neu br¼niert). Not only has this Luger been refinished, it has one of the new reproduction Navy rear toggles. The top rear of the two position sight is more rounded than an original, and the grasping serrations are shorter than those found on a genuine Navy rear sight. Even in this not very sharp photo you can spot the differences (Unless my imagination is over working today â?? but I donâ??t think so). Auction estimate is 3000-6000 Swiss Francs ($2200-$4400). That is a bit expensive for a refinished, possibly fake, Navy Luger. Caveat emptor.
