Reunited with an old friend
Today a friend of mine sold me back a 1917 Arty that I sold him about 6 years ago. I sold it to him for $1500 and bought it back, with a commercial type stock, for $1800.
I remembered it as all matching but when I got it home my memory came back to me as I rediscovered it has a Swiss side plate, mismatched extractor and hold open. It also has British import marks on the right side of the barrel. My gut feeling is I overpayed a bit but the gun is otherwise VERY clean, 95%-97%, with a perfect bore.

My gut feeling is that your friend may also have overpaid.

In retrospect that's probably true. My original purchase price for it was $1200 about 8 years ago. Oh well, I usually get pretty good buys on guns so if I overpaid a little on this one I'm still ahead overall.

JimD,
Can you tell me if there is somewhere in/around San Diego to be able to look at some lugers. Just recently got the bug and haven't really been able to scratch it! Ferley |

He kept this gun for six years without shooting? Probably waiting a chance so it can be sold back Why was a stock board added to it, not for use? I heard 8" does not perform well without a stock. Never got a chance to try though.
