Default Esquisite 1936 bringback

I recently acquired this nice 1936 dated S/42 rig that was discovered on a dead German officer in a farm house just east of the Rhine river by an Army surgeon who stopped to set up a field surgery post in the spring of 1945 as the Germans were in retreat and the American armor was advancing rapidly eastward. He kept his prize until this date when he (I guess) realized his life span was in danger of ending (he is 91!). Not only are there two matching magazines, but about 10 original rounds of 9mm with the cases dated "43" and "44" were included. Here are a few pictures...

Beautiful! What a find. I always love to hear of a pistol that comes with an actual story with it.

Herb, Not far off from the G dates....Nice droop wing eagle. They made a very pretty pistol in 1936. Congratulations on your find! Too bad your Vet Friend didn't get the pistol holster!

This Luger in this condition with two matching mags is worth big bucks even more if you have the correct holster and TD tool.
Congrats

Herb, Sweet! What is the marking on your tool? Droop Wing Eagle 63? Can't quite make it out.

Very nice looking holster!

Yes Jerry, the tool marking is indeed a DE/63. This entire rig has remained together since 1945. The magazines were still loaded with the ammo shown. Dr. Schaaf's wife was most instremental in persuading her aging husband to finally part with it. His only wish was that it go to someone who understood what he had to go through to get it and would care for it like he did. I assured him that there was no need to worry!

Herb..Could you possibly get a good clear closeup f this marking? I am trying to find a good photo of an original DWE 63 tool.
His only wish was that it go to someone who understood what he had to go through to get it and would care for it like he did. And you didn't give him my name? HAHA...
What a treasure..

That outfit is indeed a rare treasure. I'm glad that it went to someone who appreciates its history. Thanks for telling about it.
