1906 American Eagle Grip Safety Spring

Hello,
I am new to the Luger Forum, and new to Luger collecting too.
I have a recent purchase of an American Eagle Luger, model 1906 in 9MM that is in need of a Grip Safety Spring. Does anyone know some resources to aquire one, besides the usual like Gun Parts Corp., etc.. I have worked on firearms for a number of years and have to say that I do not even know what the spring looks like. Still searching through some old schematics in catalogs etc.. Any help here would be great. Once I take some photos of my recent purchase, I will post them with further detail. Thanks.

okay, a 9mm in a 1906 is pretty cool

I have one too, came out of New York area (I am in NH for a job)

Try Tom Heller here on the forum, he goes by lugerdoc, here is his email;

I am sure we can provide a photo, maybe there is one here, did you look in the technical section for parts (might not have the 1900 or 1906)

I am still learning my way around the forum site. I will have to check it out. I will also try contacting Tom Heller. Most schematics I have found do not show the 1900 or 1906, so I will try checking out the technical section. Thank you.

Here is a grip safety spring. Although it is pictured on a 1906 frame, it is my understanding that the spring itself is the same for a 1900.

Dwight, correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that the grip safety spring, in the model 1900 due to the flat recoil spring, was wider and didn't fit the later models with the coiled recoil spring.

I am in the process of contacting LugerDoc to inquire about drbuster's question, if it will work, if so, I will be purchasing one to get my Luger back to 100% mechanicly fit. I knew this would be the right place to find out. Plus this will not be my last Luger purchase, I already have the "research bug" and I am trying to absorb anything I can find on Lugers like a sponge. Thank you all for your help. Hope I can contribute back at some point. I am a Machinist/Tool & Die maker by trade, and have good knowledge of metals, machining, welding etc.. I have even copied and reproduced different types of springs in the past, once I have sample with dimensions to go by.

Congratulations on your find. I have been "looking" for a 9mm American Eagle for quite some time. I have found several, but without the BUG proofs. Just out of curosity, does yours have "BU" on the left side of the receiver and "BUG" on the underside of the barrel? And one other thought; I have a friend who has an '06 commercial (much like your Eagle). He purchased a spring from Tom last year and it worked out perfectly. Thanks,

It does not. It just has the usual crown over N proof mark under the barrel and the same on the left side of the receiver and toggle. I took some photos today and hope to have a good one on by tonight. Thanks.
