Default Simpsons Luger

I wouldn't have minded adding this to my collection.

According to Ed, everyone should own at least one chrome/nickle plated Luger. According to our guru, as many GIs used to chromed their souvenirs after the war, this would be a representative of that specific age. The same would be valid to RC or Volkspolizei refuirbished pistols.

Personally, I prefer them as issued (blued) but, in long terms, I guess Ed's thinking tends to prevail.

Douglas.

Default Finally a "Simpson"

Hi Ed,
Finally, after 50 years of collecting I have managed to get myself a Simpson Luger, ihe only maker I do not have.

Undated Simpson & Co , Suhl ,SN 150a, Police sear safety and Magazine safety. All matching numbers except the mag which is E6 but the wrong number.

I have always wanted a simpson and finally,.... however it is still in transit from the USA. A bit late for Christmas .

I found it on a table at the SAR shown in Phoenix a few weeks ago and Simpson in Il have shipped it back to me.

Photos will be posted on arrival

Merry Christmas from down under

Default Oz???

Oz??
Hello DJU
I wouldn't have a clue about impoting a luger into "Oz" but it is fairly easy to import a luger or anything else into New Zealand.

I went to Arizona on 23rd November with a permit to import two guns that I wanted, a Simpson Luger and a type 14 Nambu.
I bought both guns a week later at the SAR/Cross roads of the west Gun shown and a few days later sent them by Fedex to Simpsons who immediatly made application to the BATF/ US State department (using the exporter copy of my import licence) for an export certificate which Simpson's received 8 days later and they are now on the way to me. One signature only.
My customs agent in Auckland New Zealand will receive them and forward them on to me and I then have one month to register them here with NZ Police Fire arms section. Second signature, total of two signatures

I buy a lot of Lugers from the USA and ship them all by Simpson in Galesburg Illinois. They are excellent to deal with.

I also import machine guns from UK and other places but use UK licenced agents.
You are not allowed to import or own machine guns in "OZ" which I think stands for Austrialia or some where

My last machine gun was a very nice MG 34 (live gun) made in 1934 by Simpson & Co Suhl which explains the need for a Simpson Luger.

I also have two nice Vickers Lugers which match my Vickers water cooled Machine gun.

One has to keep these things in the same family you know.
Ed will explain. I am sure.

Regards

Default Serial number 150a

Thanks Ed,

As soon as I found this gun I telephone my wife Jan whom you know ,back home in New Zealand and asked her to check your book.

It was worth the $100 phone call just to hear her reply.....
"Honey, it is not listed in Ed's book!!!!!"

Best wishes Ed,

Murray

Sounds like a long, expensive process requiring lots of papers, signatures, etc. along the line. Tell us about the details of exporting to Oz.
