Sticking grip safety and safety on a 1929 Swiss?

The grip safety on a 1929 swiss is sticking in the compressed position and the manual safety wont move off fire to safe. It can be unstuck but as soon as it is compressed again as in cocking the weapon it jams up again. Any ideas guys?

Sounds like you might have a bent part. Clean the gun really well, and then examine the movement of the grip safety carefully to see if it is binding.

Another possibility is tha the gun might have aftermarket grips that do not fit well and may be binding on the grip safety... If this is the case, a little judicious grinding with a small file, or a dremel tool on the offending left grip interior where the binding is taking place should put you back in business in short order...

Or, it could be return spring trouble. Possibly broken. Remove the left grip and lift the grip safety lever out of the retaining hole to look at the spring.The photo, compliments of Mr. Dwight Gruber from a previous post, shows what the spring is suppose to look like. Yours may be broken. If so, you can get a new one from Tom Heller, AKA Lugerdoc.

Dean, More than likely your grips safety lever is rubbing against the inside of the grip. Try it with the grip removed. If it works normally, you may have to remove some material from the inside of the grip, where it is rubbing. TH

If this is your new in-coming M1929 from FGS, have you call them and asked...I assume you are in your 3-day inspection period...???

Since your grips are plastic, I am not sure I would want to shave off some of the inside surfaces before I gave FGS a chance to let you know what they think...

Thanks for the replys folks. It is the 1929 that I just got from FGS Pete. I have called them and will be returning the gun for an exchange to them. Although I was disappointed with the gun Ken Clark there has been wonderful to work with and I should have the new gun by next week. There is no reason to keep a gun and have a hassle with it if I can return it for one of equal quality that works.
