Mauser Banner 42 date Commercial for $28,750!
What does everyone think of this one that sold at RIA for $28,750! The straw looks too perfect to me? The holster is Police but the gun is commercial? The Magazines are normally unnumbered on a commercial? Finally they described it as "late war", I would say it is mid war with the same high quality finish as a BYF 42.

Looks very similar to a mid war 42 Banner that I have in the "g" block. I think my pistol (which was military proofed) was made post war from parts in Oberndorf - but it's only speculation.
Someone paid quite a bit for entry into this club... Marc

Marc, So are you saying that the auction gun is perhaps an "unmarked" Eagle Police? And so the Police marked holster is correct with it? Or is that it is a true commercial Banner that someone requested numbered magazines and somehow got them with it? In the case it is a true commercial the Police holster was likely added later and is not really a matching part of the rig?
I too have a 42 Mauser Banner commercial, but mine is obviously truely "late war" with less workmanship and polish than the earlier Banners (mine is about like a BYF42 actually). Mine is straight commercial, matching, no military parts at all. But I believe it was made up late in the war with rejected military/police parts. |
