The unit marking is probably 168.R.M.G.21. which would be Infantry Regiment 168, Machine Gun Company, weapon # 21. Is it an Erfurt or DWM? Is there a letter suffix as part of the serial number?

Pics would be helpful. The resident collectors here can tell you if it is valuable or just a 'shooter'...but they need pics...

http://forum.lugerforum.com/album.php?albumid=427 Please post pics of the top of the chamber and the front of the frame (serial number), as well as the bottom of the barrel... That barrel is a replacement [Bohler], probably after the war... BTW, what makes you think this is a 1911??? Is that the date on the top of the chamber???

Robert, Took a close look at what photo's you have..it's an Erfurt. Didn't see a photo of the chamber date or toggle.
Your pistol is a nice one..except for the replacement barrel. This barrel is the main thing that kicks price in the head. If it still had the original barrel the pistol would bring double what it is worth now. Others may have a different opinion but IMO the pistol should sell for around $6-700 A magazine will have some value and you do not show yours..from what I can see it has a broken wooden pull.
