Posting some photos for Luger Forum member Dan Metz' M1900 Swiss luger, serial # 14.

Dan will be sending more photos of the top of the chamber and the left side proofs.

Dan has indicated this one is original finish and is +/V stamped (which would be quite rare). As soon as I receive other photos, I will get them posted up.

I have asked Dan to send 4 more photos : barrel markings, chamber marking, polished thumb safety area, and the left side receiver markings.

What incredibly good condition this pistol is in, for it's age! Makes you wonder where it has been hiding for so long. I hope I look that good when I am 105, but I am afraid I have already started my way down hil

I discussed this interesting Luger with Mike Krause today. These very low serial number pieces were apparently "test" guns. Why "BUG" proofs are on it increases the mystery. I'm not certain that these proofs were on the earliest guns (It's also controversial whether the serial numbers restarted at "1" at some point). Mike has seen and examined #19. It has the "GL" monogram on the rear toggle and of course has an unrelieved frame. After my talk with Mike, I would like to see more photos and hear more details.

Dan was home and took a few more photos for us to see. He has not had any luck with his camera's macro feature to get a good photo of the barrel/receiver witness mark...

Pete, and all, I am still puzzled about this beautiful Swiss gun. It appears to be an early commercial piece. The magazine is not pictured but should, I believe, NOT have a Swiss disc on the sides of the wood bottom and should have the old style flat loading button. But I think I see in the top photo that the frame may have a groove in it for the later type relieved magazine. Of course, if true, these modifications were often made later and wouldn't mean much. It would be nice, nevertheless, to see photos of the magazine.
