Relined Luger Barrels

I am constantly asked who are people that do quality barrel relining for Luger Pistols. I dont have a good answer. I seem to remember John Lawson of the Sight Shop in Tacoma Washington did some for Broom Handle Mausers and Luger refinishing was also one of the things he did. Does anybody have anyone they can recommend for this type of work. I am trying to talk Hugh into this since he is the Luger Barrel guy, but no luck yet, he really is too busy to do much more I guess. With all his Barrel replacements, Baby Lugers and all that excellent grip work he stays very busy! Any ideas? Thanks! ~Thor~

That was mentioned by some forum members back when the forum discussion board was based in Taiwan, somewhere in the Cleveland or Mentor area as I recall but I don't have any record of the shop name. Perhaps some other long term member can help out here...

Redmons in Omak, WA does this. I have A 30cal bl there now --rebore and rifle to 9mm. They have advertised in SGN and GunList for years. Look for their ad under gunsmith services

Just wonder Hugh, if the liners are expoxied or solder in place. The two barrels I have shot that have been relined shot very very good! Ted

I did a couple .22 LR barrels back in the '70s with liners from gun parts corporation (Numrich). They weren't tack drivers but they did shoot a whole lot better than the original shot out barrels.

Mentor Arms Company, 6105 Magnolia Drive, Mentor, Ohio 44060, 440-257-2457 specializes in Broomhandles and does good work on Lugers.


They have done very nice work and are good people to deal with. I recommend them, but it has been a couple of years since I last contacted them, so I hope that they are still around. They used to advertise in SGN too.BTW.

I have seen some of the work that Beinke & Beinke in klamath falls ore. has done. the workmanship was realy good. I have never shot anything that they hav relined, but they have a goor reputation here in Oregon.

I hope that there is some mistake in your statement

of re-boring a 7.65 mm to 9 mm , as this would thin

the wall of the barrel by about .026 + inches, which

in my opinion has the probability of turning this fine

gun into an unpredictable BOMB !!!


Sorry thats my opinion based on 36 years of experience

as a NASA Technician and Certified Product Engineer.


If you intend to go this route please have this weapon Proof tested and recertified as safe to fire under all conditions .


For your sake I hope this advice reaches you in time

and any other that may try to enlarge the bore of any firearm.
