Post dkf from Gunbroker

Has anybody had any dealings with a "dkf" from Texas on Gunbroker? Noticed he has a lot of P08 and P38 stuff for sale. Just wondering on the originality of the stuff. Thanks for any replies...................Bruce

I've seen his auction and feedback. Seems he took some flack for misrepresenting some "Black Widow" grips as originals when they were really reproductions. He states on some of his auctions the pistols are restored (whatever that means-maybe a really nice job, maybe not). The pictures are not very clear (always a caveat) and his prices are too high. The cheapest one I saw started at $780.00 (for a restoration) and said reserve not met. Sooo, I think that's too much for something I can't clearly see and a guy who's had several negatives for not telling the truth. His responses struck me as combative. In my business we call it a "FAR Texas Deal" meaning Flat-A$$ Reject, El Paso.

I read the feedbacks also, and I agree his responses were harsh. Seeing how I know nothing about these guns I'm an easy mark. I'll still watch for upcoming deals and when I decide to strike, I will probably get ripped-off!!!!

I guess you can break it down by two distinct categories, (A) collectible or (B) shooter grade. If you just want a Luger to have one and don't care about collectibility or as an investment, that you can shoot, then go for option (B). You should be able to find one for about $600 +/-. However, if you're looking for a collectible then you get into a whole different area. As you've already seen, those can get right pricey. Most of what I've seen on gunbroker and auctionarms fall into shooter grade with some expections. I personally prefer something I can shoot every once and awhile. Nice thing about Lugers is there are a lot of varieties.

I've looked at the guns listed and agree that a) the prices are high and b) the pictures are suspiciously poor. I always pay to much for my guns and even I haven't been tempted <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Does he offer a return policy? That is usually my first question.

I've been tempted in the past to take a chance and be safeguarded by a return policy, but at anywhere from $60 to $80 a go it gets expensive.

I find it hard to credit that those are the very best pictures that could be taken ?

Judging by his feedback and responses, I'd say you play h*** getting him to take anything back even if he said he would. There's too many other sources than that guy. He's got quite an inventory, but so what. It's all over priced from what I've seen.

Several years ago I bought a tool, LP08 stock and sight adjustment tool from him. All items were represented as original (from a warehouse in Potsdam). All were fakes. I still have the items and the receipts.

ratdog -

Have seen pretty much the same kinds of comments on the other Luger forum from different players.

It is good that we can discuss such items on either forum. Certainly helps relative newcomers such as I.
