A friend sent me some photos and text and asked that I discretely give him some info, with discretion being important because he is in the midst of negotiations. The Luger in question appears to be a 1906 Commercial 9mm. I'd like to forward his info via email to our resident expert collector.

Ron Wood or Dwight Gruber... although I can't offer their service.

I do not claim to be an expert at all. But send me a PM and I will return it with my email address and help if I can.

I have researched the one I bought this week for two days and I don't qualify but I did deside to be Luger literate one must spend a lifetime studying different models and has a large reference library. I am in awe of all of you that wear that hat.

I had to go ahead and make an offer or he wanted to get the two guns he wanted to sell back, don't really blame him because it had been two days since he sent them to me. I appreciate those of you that tried to evaluate the pistol based on such poor pictures and my description of the gun.
I know nothing about Lugers but I kind of know guns in general but I can't see where this gun has been altered. Thanks for all the quick responses and offers I can tell that I am amongst "gun people". Garrell Patterson |

Garrell. A Navy Luger is considered "Altered": when the safety is changed to the later "down for safe" on the safety lever from the original "up for safe" that the pistol originally came with.
