Hey all,
I've been working and talking with Hugh Clark on a new forum patch since all the originals are gone. I've taken the picture of the original patch and edited, then digitized it with my home embroidery software. (My wife is heavy into home embroidery. Has 3 machines.) After much fine tuning and many attempts, I have finally succeeded in sewing out a good patch. I don't plan on selling patches. The plan is to post the actual embroidery pattern file with instructions here on the forum. Any one who wants a patch can sew their own if you, your wife, or a friend has an embroidery machine. The design pattern can be converted to a file compatible with any brand machine. I'll try to have the design and instructions finished within a week. Here's a picture of the final result. It's not quite as nice as the professional patch, but for home-made. It ain't bad. -ML

Very nice. We do not have a machine for that so I pray that a member can make some up for us. Many thanks.

We have a Husquevarna that can embroider also. I'd like the data if it is available.

Myron, I applaud your efforts.
This is in no way a criticism of what you have done or are doing but I have never been overly fond of the Lugers in this position. This is a remake of the old Luger patch.. Maybe I am the type that dosen't appreciate things out of order..I would prefer to see the pistol in a normal manner. Pointed to the left or right? Seems to me it would present itself better with a new design. Jerry Burney

Myron, Thanks but no. I have way too many irons in the fire as it is. Graphic design is better left to those who have the time for it.
As I remember Forum patches were made and sold to benifit the Forum years ago? That is one project I have never been involved in in the past although I have several of the old patches in my display. I forget who spearheaded the last ones? John Sabato? Hugh Clark?

Let me open this up to any member who has computer graphic skills--- I would welcome submissions from members on what they think Lugerforum Patch (version 3) might look like.
Jerry, thanks for your input suggestion on the position of the pistols on the patch. As for the history of the original patch... The concept of the patch was Ted Green's original idea as I recall. I expanded on his concept by creating the original artwork from actual photographs of a byf 41 with bakelite grips and a 1937 Krieghoff with wooden grips. I used two pistols for symmetry and placed them muzzle up so that they wouldn't be pointing at the wearer's head (at the suggestion of one of the original 8 members of the board of directors). The original patch was intended to be worn on hats, but many thought it should also be suitable for use on a gentleman's blazer jacket. Patch version 1 had a blue background. The contract for production of this patch was investigated and arranged by a volunteer member whose screen name was EOC-Bob. The original order was also financed by generous donations by members of the original board of directors. Hugh Clark generously volunteered to be the point of contact for Patch sales. Sales of the first patch were brisk and they almost sold out within a few months. Then some time later, new members starting inquiring about purchasing a patch and the demand became great enough that we did it a.second time. At the suggestion of members, Patch version 2 had a yellow background to provide more contrast with the pistol graphics. Sales of Patch #2 started lively but eventually slowed down and a number of patches went unpurchased until just recently when Hugh sold out the remaining stocks. Perhaps a fresh design will spark interest to allow for creation of a new patch. So all you graphic artist/Luger enthusiasts out there crank up your image software and submit a proposed design in this thread! When we get a few, we'll post a poll and find out what the favorite design is and gather the level of interest for the quantity to be produced and go from there. ![]() And now for a Lugerforum history trivia question: Who can name ALL of the original 8 members of the board of directors who guided the direction & growth of our forum to what it is Today? (A hint-John D. is the owner of the assets and name of this forum and through whose generosity made the Lugerforum possible. He worked with the board. & took their suggestions to create this organization. He was the "Decider" to quote George W. Bush, the Chairman if you will, but he was not a member of the board). Members of the board are not eligible to post answers! I will give it a day or two for your guesses and then reveal their identities...

Nice work!
About a possible 'new design'. How about something like this? (never mind the rear sight, just a proposition about the shape / angle) |

![]() It's one of 3 known surviving prototype adjustable rear sights for the Mauser Parabellum Sports pistol. This one didn't make it. |
