Just an FYI - I'm not that old, but old enough and have been collecting since about 1983. Along the way, always bought "spare parts guns".....tons of lugers along the way. After all this time, I have a dozen or so to restore. Make them super nice shooters or fillers right? Why throw a few rounds out of that mint $2,500 byf 41? HAD Lugerman been someone I could trust, I would have kept him employed quite well. No matter how good someone's work is, no trust -> no dealings. Been there in car restorations....not about to do it with Lugers.

BTW, if you call the local police where Lugerman lives, they go to his house. I did. They were geared to go. I said, "hang on - I want my attorney to draw papers" (interstate fraud exceeding $x dollars....yada yada)...he did. Got my stuff. Asked police to "stand down". They'll do a drive by in his area. Keep it in mind. Ever deal with Russians? If you have, you know what it's like and generally - unless you're armed - you won't. The only way is to do a "check point Charlie" deal if you know what that is. Otherwise, caveat emptor. Raus.

Mike, Trust is a valuable commodity. Not too many years ago word did not travel like lightening..it does today and it's difficult to hide. I have always felt I want to treat other collectors like I want to be treated. So far that has worked out pretty well.

Ed, Trades are a funny thing..mostly they are hard to put together as both parties must come up with something the other wants! Secondly they are rarely exactly even up. Often one party makes out a little better than the other. That's why I like trading with good friends...if you end up a little short you can try to make up for it on the next trade..then you don't feel bad if the other guy came out a bit ahead..he's a good friend and you don't mind!
I learned a hard lesson many years ago in my first gun trade. I was 12 I think. I got royally ripped but it was a good lesson then and now. I still remember that lesson and it's prevented me trading without thinking it over carefully first!
You still end up making mistakes no matter what..

Hi, Just a quick update about my situation with LugerMan. I phoned and filed an internet fraud complaint with the local police department in his home town. They knew exactly about what I was talking about. The next day the officer that I spoke with called me back and said the he went to see LugerMan where he worked. He was advised that the situation was not acceptable. LugerMan sent me an axle and a partial refund. My recommendation to any one else that has an issue is to contact the police in his home town. They were fantastic to deal with. The officer phoned me a total of five times to keep me informed as to the progress, including giving me the U.S.P.S. tracking number on the package. The officer even phoned the post office to confirm that it was actually sent. Without that officer, I would have not received anything. I might add that LugerMan never emailed or phoned me to apologize. The bottom line is that I am happy it has been resolved but very disappointed as to what had to be done to resolve it.

I am very disappointed to hear that Eugene is still screwing his customers. I had thought he was on the road back to honest dealings.

I've been seriously considering commissioning Eugene to do a Luger carbine for me. I have some money saved up for that purpose, and IMO his terms of payment were reasonable. A year or two isn't all that long to me anymore - time is flying by, IMO...

But no communication, fraud complaints, and NO customer satisfaction leaves me...alone and afraid, in a world I never made...

It's about trust. He maybe the best in the world at what he does, but can you trust him? His actions speak very loud on that.

I think that Eugene is not a rip-off artist, I think he is more unreliable than untrustworthy, but that is only from hearing others happy with him.

apology in my mind.

Well worth commenting by any Russian or any other person for that meter.

But i am here to restore Lugers , however long it takes, and however meany bad comments i get.

If you can restore them as good as you can type , i will come to you for service.

Eugene, the issues I hear are that you ignore people until they threaten legal action; that you say you have a part, and then take months to supply a part?

WTH? If you want a good reputation; then follow through and keep your customers happy.

I would gladly sell some lugers to come up with a workable, shooting 45 luger - that I actually thought I would get within 5 or 6 months.

Tell me why it takes a year to year and a half to make a carbine? Please, explain it to me?

Hi,
it takes about 100 hours to make one carbine.
I only work 15-20 hours a week because it's my part time job.
out of that time only 10 hours goes in to making something.
other 10 hours goes in to answering email, phone calls and sending shipments out as bad and as slow as i am.

I do have waiting list of projects that is about 15 at this time.

I turn about 1 project in 2 weeks in general.

There is also a waiting list of small projects, like functions checks and parts fittings and such.

so 30-40 weeks to get to your project.
and 10 weeks to make it happen.

In realty i work on each project little by little.

Because i rust blue them in 2-3 at the time.

As far as carbines ,

I make 4-5 at the time, make stocks for all, make barrels for all,
make grips for all and so on .

Last year i made 6 of them.

First was out in 8 month last was out in 14 month.

one lucky person got his faster because he got the one extra one i was making for sale and not to order.

That's my life as i know it.

If i take a phone call, 2 hours are gone.

If i answer email an 1 hours is gone.

and projects and shipments get delayed.

If i get a cold, that drops a week of the clock.
I god forbid i go on vacation all hell brakes loose.

That's a ruff estimate.

I am not out here to cheat anyone out of there money,

Mostly i am just doing it for the love of the Lugers ...
That what my wife keeps telling me anyways.

If people have patience to deal with me, they get reworded...
If they do not, they have other options... and as far as i hear anyone that is any good takes just as long.

Correct me if I am wrong.

It sounds like an assistant just to answer phone, emails, and manage small parts could cut the time in half AND do miracles in rebuilding your reputation and customer satisfaction. There are a lot of people that will work for trade for good gunsmithing services or restoration. The art of good restoration cannot be/should not be lost.. maybe an apprentice that starts by office work?

Just sayin.. I am disabled and on a fixed income but trade minor gun work and computer/network repair for labor to maintain my property and cars.
