Post High Velocity S&B? I don't think so...

Very frequently I read or hear of supposed high velocities generated by S&B 115 gr Ball ammo. While I was fixing my Luger, I found that this ammo gave me trouble with jamming and malfunctioning that seemed to indicate that it was somewhat lightly loaded.

So, recently I chronographed some, and here are the results {15 feet, average of 4 shots}:

S&B 115 Ball 1142 fps

Win USA 115 Ball 1178

UMC 115 JHP 1182

Amer Eagle 124 Ball 1102

WCC NATO 124 Ball 1201

Interestingly, S&B was the SLOWEST of the 115's tested, and slower than NATO 124 Ball.

Hi Heinmot,

I love the S&B's! They are as close to original DWM specs as you can get.

Fed a box of S&B through my Dutch luger yesterday. No jams, no malfunctions and 1 inch groups at 12 yards. Lovely

Remember that particular lugers like particular ammo and particular magazines.

Heinmot, I ran two boxs of S&B through my Artillery, my 1915 DWM, and my 1921 rework this weekend. All functioned without a flaw. I really like that ammo in my CYQ p.38. Very accurate.

Ron
