Post Broomhandle Stock

I realize this is a little off topic but I have not had much luck with "Broomhandle Forums".

Here is a pic of a broomhandle stock that I am trying to get some info on.

As you can see in the photo the stock has been cracked and repaired by screwing a thin sheet of brass around it. The repair seems very old. The leather "holster" has the following mark:

ANSt
23
15

I owned that stock until about 6 years ago. It was one that was german made and went to China and then came beack out of china. Was a very interesting piece due to the fact that it survived at all and the neatly done brass "reinforcing" band.

When I liquidated all my non-luger stuff in the mid 1990's I sold it on the old "Trader's Den". There was no leather with it when I sold it, so the "jock strap" is a recent add-on.

Hope this helps.

Well this is getting interesting...the one I have now was bought by my Father in about 1978-80 (I phoned him to check). If cracks in the stocks are common, are these repairs some sort of standard armourers fix?

I'll look for numbers/markings on it soonest.
