I have offered for sale copies of selected patents related to Lugers in the classifieds. On all three of these Patents Woldemar Haupt appears as a witness. One is for Borchardt and two are for Luger with differt attorneys for Luger and Borchardt. So does anybody know who he was? I ask because in company patent practice in the 1970's often the witnesses for the patent were major contributors to the design.

My guess is he was a US patent attorney or a certified translator, listed below are two other patents he signed as a witness, both deal with a German product, both are in English, couldn't find anything in German.

He was not the patent attorney for any of these three filings. He was a witness to the Patent claims. Georg Luger deems to have been in Germany when he drafted his two patents since his Patent attorney, Herbert T Jenner signed for him. Borchadt/s attorney also signed for him. I am checking the two wesite you kindly posted to see if they give any hints.
I checked them, One is from Charlottenberg, the other is from Berlin. Tehy both are also Witnessed by Henry Hasper, who witnessed the Luger patents but not the Borchardt. Maybe German Patent staff with a Loewe and company connection?? |

There's definitely a connection, good luck on figuring it out.
