Question Firing Pins

Are most all firing pins interchangeble? I have one that has a solid appearance to it, and one that has sort of vented groove cut in the side of it. can one be exchanged with the other, without damage or possible misfiring of the gun?/

I believe most are interchangeable, the difference in the two is that they were modified for venting gases, so the "solid" one is the early style. If you have a shooter, you'll want to use the ventable type.

It's very possible that you have to adjust the triggerpull as the firing pin is one of the most important part of the triggerpull.

Lizzy,

The grooves were introduced by Mauser as an upgrade and these grooved pins (or vented pins as we tend to call them) can simply be swapped with no problems.

The vents help agains damaged breech blocks when a pierced primer forces gases backwards. The vents help to relieve the pressure and therefore it's advisable to exchange non-vented firing pins for vented ones when shooting Lugers.

I've swapped quite a number of them around between Mausers and DWMs without problems.
