Post Mars Berlin 1915 arty holster value

Hi all I would like to find out about the value of this 1915 Mars Berlin arty holster.

It is the pebbled grain variant, not made of pig skin but cattle leather (?). It is marked FAR3, Feld Artillerie Regiment 3, which was part of the 6th infantry division. The riding Abteilung was part of the 4th cavalry division, and the IVth and Vth battery was part of the 6. Kavallerie Sch¼tzen Division.

As part of the 6th infantry division the holster has seen the battle of Verdun,, the fights around the fortress Douaumont and Vaux, as well as the Somme battle and the great battle of France 1918.

If this holster belonged to the riding Abteilung or the 4. or 5. battery it has lived the war in the east.

That's what has written the former owner.

I don't know yet if I shall sell it, how much would be a going price

Thanks

Thorston

Oh, I've forgotten how to upload pics, help please

Thor,

That is a very nice historic piece and the pebble grain makes it quite rare. Depending upon condition, I would guess the value of the holster to be $500 USD up.

Tom & Jerry (I just can't resist that address!)

If you receive photos, would you please post them here for the rest of us to see (In your case Tom, since the 'puter spirits seem to frown on you posting pictures, I would be happy to post them for you - email address rwood1@elp.rr.com)

Thanks
Ron

I have two 1915 MARS LP08 holsters, both are pebblegrained and both are soft shell formed. As I understand it, MARS was a primary C96 leather supplier. Very few P08 or LP08 holsters are credited to them.

I would very much like to see photographs of the subject holsters.

Hello guys,
please forward also to me the pictures when available (m.baudino@libero.it). Thorston the 1915 holsters are the most common LP08 holster. The fact that this holster is a soft leather MARS increases the price. I agree that the maximum price should be aroud $500. If you look at my web site you can find a web page were it is possible to see a few very interesting holster. To download the pictures please click on the Upload Photos link and follow the instruction you find in the related web page. If you are not able to complete with success these steps, please send me the pictures and I will do it for you.
Ciao
Mauro

Thank you very much gentlemen,

I've sent the pics to everybody who has asked for them.

It is a soft holster. I like very much that it is stamped FAR3, this tells us something about it's history

thorston,

Magnificent holster, thank you! Evidently my ISP detected something in your email that it thought was a virus and rejected it. I very much appreciate your posting the pictures here.

Thorston,
where is the FAR3 marking? I could not see it in the pictures. Excellent holster.

Another one popped up this week at the Max Show. I have it but will probably sell it as I already had two. I can't post photos but will email them.
