Hello Hugh,
Excellent find...congratulations... You pick up a rig in one afternoon outing and it takes me nearly a year to do so... I am envious... Pete... |

Thanks, guys I think I was really lucky to find this one before someone else did.
I also had a neighboring table renter show me his rare 1915 Erfurt! I must say it was an interesting gun. All matching numbers that appeared to be identical and original. The little Erfurt proof marks on all parts except for the bbl and receiver. I pointed out to him that there was a DWM eagle on the receiver rather than an Erfurt eagle, that the top of the receiver was lacking the little flat shelf on front, and that the bbl had no serial number. It also had a "beautiful" black salt reblue! Come to find out that he had bought it from the son a dead "gun collector and gunsmith", who "liked to experiment with different things". The present owner suspected that it wasn't "real", but was looking for confirmation of his "suspicions". We decided that it was an interesting shooter!
