Default Nazi Navy Property Marks

Nazi Navy Property Marks of the Baltic Sea Fleet- “O” Property Numbers.

I wanted to compare the Nazi Navy property numbers of two different models of Baltic Sea Fleet “O” property marked firearms to see if stamping differences occur between large and small frames guns. Those being a Mauser Luger 1938 S/42 and a Mauser Model 1934.

The Guns:
(1) Mauser Luger 1938 S/42-s/n:277n all matching numbers except mag. Baltic Fleet No. “O.3596” on front grip. (Grips not numbered but left grip is inscribed on inside.)
(2) Mauser 1934 s/n 571147 all matching including one magazine. Baltic Fleet No. “O.4362” front grip and spare magazine.

Observations:
Both the Luger and the Model 1934 share the following dimensions exactly, on both frame and magazine. Measurements were taken by electronic digital caliper, handheld-so measurement is close approximation.
(1) Total length of property number including “O” prefix:
12.5mm long.
(2) Total length of property number only: 8.8mm.
(3) Height of the “O” prefix: 3.8mm tall.
(4) Height of the property number itself: 2.8mm tall.

Comments:
My understanding of Navy property numbers has been the property numbers are numerical, regardless of firearm model. Taking a measurement of Nazi Navy property markings might be an additional cautionary step before buying these expensive pieces.

Interesting comparison Clark. I haven't measured mine, but the fonts look the same. This is on a reworked luger from the Imperial era that received a new barrel, barrel extension and rear sight when converted during the Weimar era.
