My first Luger! It seems to be a 1928 Dutch Contract Luger sent to the KNIL (features and serial number all match).
From the unit plate it appears to be from the 2nd Infantry Division, and the LH Battalion. I’m not sure what the “44” means. Is this correct? http://dutcheastindies.iblogger.org/oob.html?i=1 |

That rather odd unit marking is for the "Left Half of the 21st Infantry Battalion". I have a Vickers that is marked St. L.H. XXI 12 which would indicate it was issued to the headquarters staff. The 44 on your Luger and the 12 on mine are inventory numbers.
