ok so it happened again. I got the opportunity to pickup this little gem from a man who's owned it a lot longer than I've been alive but Im having trouble with this one as it's marked a 41 and not the traditional 42's that I come across very often.
Any help with anything about it would be very helpful to me. all numbers matching with mismatched steel mag Serial 7339 M Marked 41 P 08 BYF No unit marking I can find |

Your Luger looks all correct to me. The byf code started in early 1941 and continued into 1942. The suffix happens to be a "u". There were no 41 byf's with a "m" suffix.

I agree. From what I can see, it looks like a good byf 41. As long as it's all matching, and If price is right, I'd buy it.

Nice so that worked out just fine. I bought a larger estate in its entirety and I allocated 500 bucks for this firearm so I did ok on this one.

FWICS that pistol is not in mint conditions any more but looks correct to the best of my knowledge.

Very nice pistol.
Agree. I am not interested in mint pistols, military or otherwise. I don't see that many in the high 90% range and therefore don't have much of a baseline to evaluate if the finish is original. They invariably carry a big price tag and the chance for fraud is simply too great. The only exception would be if purchased from an impeccable source with the experience and knowledge to evaluate finish, and the integrity to honestly describe it. |
