Wanted a Colt 1911. I have one that is a 1929 and shoots good but am afraid it might break something.
Anyway I went scouting for another. Today I found a 1983 Colt Government Mark lv that appears to have never been fired. Its the pretty Colt blue and is a 38 Super like my old one. It came with three new Wilson mags. Not sure if they were what came with the gun, but it has some cool grips and a mag well thing. Probably could use an adjustable trigger and maybe some other changes , but it sure is pretty. Anxious to run it to the range tomorrow and see how it shoots. Its an 80's series so has the added safety thing that everybody hates. Can't have it all |

Not a big fan of that firing pin safety either.
![]() At least the bottom one doesn't have it. ![]() But it's not a Colt either.

I went for the Colt for the resale. Seems like no matter what model it is , if its a Colt then someone will buy it.
It shot pretty good but not tack driver accurate. Will try some different ammo before I try to accurize it. 25 yds |

I am interested in getting a FNX 45 FDE, local store asks $1100 for a NIB. FN had lots of excellent designs in history, I expected this particular model is no expection. It looks great, but local law requires all new pistols could only sell with 10-round magazine. The advantage of 15-round capacity is gone. That blocked my desire. Probably getting a Remington 1911 R1 will be better.

There are so many. With Colt they have lots of models with all the goodies in the $1200 range. Some stainless for $1100 ish. I wanted the old Colt deep blue and settled for a
little less because this one had it. For right around what I got this one for , I could have gotten a match barrel, little better sights, and stainless. Sometimes you have to go for what really makes you happy. |
