Eugene's 45 ACP Luger - completed and for sale :)

I've said for a long time that if there was a shootable 45 ACP Luger I'd buy it - guess I'd have to sell my 9mm Carbine to get one right now.

But it feels really good in your hand and weighs approx 4 oz less than a 1911A1.

He said he had 12 working copies and sold 5 or 6 already and shipping them in March if I remember right. He has 5 ready to sell. I am not pumping up for sales for Eugene, but he did like I hoped and had models ready to buy rather than taking sales. Within the month I think he will have another dozen as he made frames, uppers and all the parts and just needs to hand-fit.

No magazines, so thats an issue...

I say (again!) that Eugene should have developed a repro Borchardt C93 rather than a .45 Luger...

I would pay the $5,000 for a Borchardt copy...but not for a .45 Luger copy...

What's Eugene's toggle logo??? I can't make it out...Is it intertwined dollar signs???

Nice work, but why groove the rear of the frame for a lanyard loop and then not install a loop?

Does he plan on making mags? or are these just wall hangers?

Tough to load a luger without a mag!

Although the Borchardt has been in many gun magazines - the 45 Luger has been prominent in Guns & Ammo, TV, and labeled as the 'million' dollar gun.

The blue prints were of the 2nd 45 Luger, the first one known is in the Norton Museum.

I have the Japanese C93 modelgun made by Craft Apple Works. It was modeled on a 'real' C93 bought by the company's owner/founder, Mr Hongo. He copied it exactly, even down to the serial number. The web site had pictures of the 'real' C93 and the modelgun parts, showing how they were interchangeable (but being mostly plastic, obviously not practical).

I did a thread on that modelgun on this forum. I also copied all the web site pics before I bought the modelgun. It is an accurate 1:1 rendering, except for firing pin and bore/rifling. (It can't be made to fire live rounds).

I originally had thoughts of copying the dimensions into CAD for CNC workstation 'production'. But I don't know of anyone who could transfer/reverse engineer the dimensions into usable drawings/CAD. And I don't have a CNC workstation.

I've stripped it and it is amazingly accurate as to disassembly and function. It chambers, 'fires', and ejects shells.

It is not particularly intricate as far as machineability. It was made at a time when machine tools were much simpler, and fewer in number and function. IMO, it's simpler than a Luger.

If I still had my Bridgeport mill and South Bend lathe, it would be within my capability to make one, given enough time.

A CNC workststion would be much simpler. Load the CAD/CAM software and let it run overnight. Enough nights would yield a complete set of parts.

I've never understood the attraction of 45 cal Lugers, when I want to shoot 45ACP I do so in a 1911, like nature intended.

That was tennbill2. He posted a series of small blurry pics but never followed up with larger clear pics. Never responded to emails/PMs either. I would like to see more detailed pics too.

Maybe he's planning a run of repros.

I never thought I would make this statement, but my hats off to Eugene for actually producing the item before offering it for sale...

It looks like a great buy at less than half of what Mike Krause made his CNC copies... If I had 5 big ones laying around, it would already be in my safe... I am impressed, and I don't impress easily.

Considering the magnitude of the project, I'd say that the price is very reasonable. But what's up with the mag? It's not like you can call Triple K or MecGar and order one, so is he planning to make them? Not that I have $5k laying around to buy a gun like this, but the mag would be a huge deal breaker to me.

And I do believe the C93 is a very viable option. We're talking about very low production numbers, so I don't think it's even remotely possible for Eugene to saturate the market. If I had to guess, it would probably not even be possible for him to meet the demand.

Eugene wasn't interested in a C93 'project'. Eugene wanted a .45 Luger. Now he has one.

Tough to load a luger without a mag!

Gun pictured was tested already,

mags are coming, loop will be installed as well.
