I am sure this is Finnish - but lets tell the story
![]() I am walking around the gun show and see a table with Luger stuff; five holsters and a pair of grips. He must have known that I knew a bit about lugers and he asked me my opinion on prices. I told him, sure, you want me to tell you amounts that it'll sell? ![]() So, he pulled one nice 1937 brown holster aside (not sure why) - and I looked at each one and told him $150-$250 for three of them. A couple had issues, but overall were nice ones. The brown one was nicer, and I told him to ask $300-$350. This one, I said, well, I think its worth $150, maybe a bit more, but I'd like it and would give you $100 - he said, how about $125? I told him that seemed fair. My thoughts on this - it will not hurt my feelings if you feel differently.... The rivets to me are classic Finn Has replacement strap hold down and inner tool pouch replacement One odd thing and perhaps its normal? Is this pooched out towards the toe leather (see circled picture) Another odd thing is the length, doesn't the holster seem short? A normal luger fits inside, but it seems that its too short... OH, and another odd thing is the cleaning rod pouch - why is there a cleaning rod? Added I am sure, but normal? |

Ed,
I also think its Finnish. Looks like it originally had the straps for a stock. I have one that is quite similar. |

In about 1923 the Finns purchased 5000 alpha commerical luger with 7.65x95mm long barrels, complete with surplus LPO8 stocks. Your holster appears to be one that they made to fit on the stock to hold these pistols. It may be that when they converted this holster for belt wear, it may have been opened up at the toe to accomodate the slightly longer standard 100mm PO8 barrel. TH

That holster (Thosbi) looks good. But the cleaning rod is part of the rifle cleaning kit. But a real SA-rod for parabellum is easy to find.

So here is a case where a short barreled pistol was issued with a shoulder stock. Could a case be made to legally shoot same?

Only if both the pistol and stock were marked "SA" and were Finnish issue. You would have a case to register THAT SPECIFIC pistol/stock combination. It has been done before with other oddities.
