yes, big threads on the CMP forums. I am surprised at how adamant folks are? Its like the CMP is the only place to get a 1911A1?
$1000 seems a lot for a rack grade, last year I got a nickled 1911 and a Rem Rand for $1200 at auction, for both! Since you are not sure what you are getting, I thought that the M1 Garand - Field - Rack - Service - prices would make more sense.

We'll see...

I know this does not concern me at all, of course, still $1K for a "rack grade" 1911 is not cheap, and apparently they will have to inspect and repair all the 1911 before selling them, but if I had to pay that much probably I wouldn't like anybody to replace with new aftermarket parts.

"The Secretary of the Army has to officially release the pistols to the CMP and there currently is no Secretary of the Army. Consequently, the release of the pistols is dependent on who next fills that post. "

Aaand since Congress is unlikely to approve the current nominee it looks like we'll have to wait until after the presidential election and maybe even a lot longer....

Anyway althouh that doesn't concern me I keep my fingers crossed.ù
If I lived in the States I would be awfully "impatient", to say the least, to order a 1911/1911A1 !
