Default How Do I Sign-In @ Carol Watsons Auction

There doesn't seem to be a way to sign in at Carol Watsons Auctions without first going through a third party, such as Proxibid, and paying them an additional 3% on top of Watsons 12%. In their past auctions it wasn't a problem, just sign in directly, pay with a check, money order etc and your total bidder fee was 12%. I contacted Carol Watsons and was told that at the present time there wasn't a way to avoid going through a third party.
Anyone have any other ideas or did I get something wrong?

As far as I know if you want to bid on the Julia, RIA or Carol Watsons Auctions you have to go thru Proxibid or Invaluable. I have been keeping track of the guns I am interested in on Poaxibid as once you register you can keep track of any gun by just signing into Proxibid. Just watch that you don't bid on both Invaluable and Poxibed as you will be biding against yourself.

It's easier for these auction companies to sign on with Proxibid and not have to mess around with maintaining their own technology. I have used Proxibid to bid/buy and it's pretty good.

I bid at RIA and have never gone through Proxibid. Never signed into Carol Watson's, but I'll head over there right now...

...If I can find it...

OK. Alvin posted this URL -

https://cwocauctions.proxibid.com/as....asp?ahid=4840

Which kind of tells me that Carol Watson IS Proxibid...

Download this form in the following link, print it, fill it, and fax it back to them to arrange a phone bid:

http://cwocauctions.com/images/stori...f?lbisphpreq=1

If you win, pay them a check, then BP will be 12%. Good luck!

The PDF has checkboxes for Absentee or Phone bids. According to the form, you can also mail it in. Doesn't mention anything about FFL receivers. Does require valid CC.

I'll try it.

Spacecoast, Proxibid adds 3% to your winning bids if you bid thru them so I avoid them whenever possible.

hayhugh, I have used both RIA and Carol Watsons in the past and have never had to bid thru
Proxibid or any 3rd party business in the past. I was advised at one time by a representative from Carol Watson's that I could save the 3% fee if I bid directly through them, which is what I have always done.

Alvin & Sheephearder, great advise on the phone and mail-in bids. I think that would work, thank you for the suggestion.

Yes, I understand, but Proxibid also adds a pretty high level of convenience and coverage of many auctions, both before and during, in exchange for that 3%.

I received a reply to my email to CWO Auctions today -

From: Rich B
Subject: Auctions
To: info@cwocauctions.com

Hello!

I would like to know if I can bid on items in Carol Watson auctions without having to sign up with iCollector/ProxiBid/AuctionZip/Invaluable?

Rich,

You can view the auction on Proxibid but you do not have to bid thru them. You can place a bid directly with us.
You can call me at 949-752-8284 if you want to place a bid.
Thank you,

Carol Watson,
Orange Coast Auctions

Thanks Rich, just what I wanted to hear. When I emailed them a few weeks I got a different answer.

If I view the auction on Proxibid, but place a bid through you at 949-752-8284 do I still have to pay the 18,5% buyers premium?

Thank you, Hugh G.......

No, our in-house buyer's premium is 12% for cash or check, or 15% for credit card.

Thanks Hugh, I was concerned that if I logged on through a third party web site any bids that I might possibly win would be charged the extra fee. Thanks for your help.
