Gentlemen,
I am a longtime admirer of Lugers and have been a not very active member here. I am my local shops Gun Broker guy (I sell his eclectic stuff that there is a limited market for here in South Eastern Washington). Having said that, we had a fellow come in yesterday with two Lugers. I know just enough about Lugers to know I don't know enough, thus my questions to you today. It is a byf 41. Without disassembly, all numbers appear to match, including toggle pin. Bore is excellent. Finish is just OK, with wear in usual places. He apparently stored the pistol in the leather holster it came with. Holster is black (fuq, 1941 with WaA14). Key is present (WaA655). Magazines are a mess, see photos, nothing matching, although one has an fxo body. I know next to nothing regarding the holsters, I am afraid to say. Now, the gentleman who owns this byf41, claims to having it been appraised at $3,500. I tend to believe the value is nearer $2,000, maximum. He originally wanted to ask $5,000. ![]() Regardless, here are some photos, and I would very much appreciate your constructive comments and a range of value for the package. I referred the gentleman to this forum to get an opinion on these items, but he was stubborn regarding his original estimate and "didn't want to mess around on the internet". I am going to refuse to sell this at his minimum asking price ($3,500) as I believe it to be fanciful, unless I am quite wrong. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks Gents, Ez |

It is my opinion that $3,500 is totally out of bounds of reason. Whereas the pistol is in reasonable condition, it is not pristine by any means and it is unknown if internal parts are matching (which must be established to ascertain value). Since the holster, while a desirable year, has a jury rigged closure strap, so it is not in the original condition that collectors require. The tool is apparently a nice one, even though buggered up on the end. Both magazines are junk at this point could be rebuilt, but again not original. Sorry for the bad news, but that's the way I see it. Someone else may have a different opinion, but I doubt it.

Imho, $2- 2.2K is a reasonable offer taking into account the condition of the holster and magazines.
But hey, you never know someone might pay more. Pistol actually looks pretty nice for having been stored in the holster. |

Personally, I'd stay well south of $2k, or by the time you have the holster repaired and the 2 mags. replaced, you will be hopelessly up-side-down.
