My dad was in that battle on the heavy cruiser USS Chester. His job was electricians mate but during the battle he was the assistant gunner for a twin .30 machine gun. The USMC gunner was killed while dad was bending over to get another can of ammo. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for his service. My own father was in the infantry in the Pacific from Guadalcanal to the surrender in Japan.

Ps: I expect your dad was on a twin 20mm mount. The Chester had a lot of them.
