Default What is it? value?

It's a pouch of some kind. For what, I don't know? It is in very good condition, and is nicely maker marked with a stylish "LK". It is also dated 1940, and has a nice "eagle/WaA195" on it. Inside is has a pad on the top of the closure cover. It has a buckly type closure strap (like a luger holster), and there are some ink stamps inside from the leather maker.
Would like to know what this is for? and value?

Thanks!
Matt

Perhaps I should add dimensions. Top cover measures exactly 5 inches length and 2.75 inches wide. From top to bottom the case is 5.5 inches. Also there is no belt loop on it at all. The back side looks identical to the front (as photo above shows.)

Hope this helps,
Matt

I think it is possibly a compass case. But that is just a guess...

A LARGE compass case or an aiming optic of some sort,. (the "L" is identical to the Leitz, (Leica) optics works in Germany).

If you don't mind my asking....how did you suddenly come into possesion of all this nearly pristine nazi era esoterica??

Thanks Guys. Someone else on the P38 forum mentioned it might be for a compass as well. However, It seems really large for a compass. I was thinking a sight for a crew served weapon of some type?

alanint,

While I wouldn't say all this stuff is prestine (although this case definately looks to be in un-issued condition), the other case is very hard used, as is the ammo carrier, and entrenching tool. All this stuff came from a large lot of items. I had to buy the whole lot to get the items I wanted, and these other items really aren't my specialty. Just looking to find out what they all are for, and what they are worth so I can accurately describe, and fairly price them.

At first glance, to me, it looks like a case for an old camera lens extender or manual exposure light meter.

I think the light meter is a good call. Looks similar to an old Voightlander meter case I had once upon a time.

And the stamped LK letters make me think of Lietz/Leica. I agree with camera optics related carrying case, be it lens, light meter, iPhone (just kidding), etc.

I think the Lk is manufacture mark. Look in for sale section, WWII holsters for sale. Their is a 1937 holster with this stamp. John
