Default OT: Nambu's

Well got my overpriced RCBS 8mm Nambu dies in the other day and loaded up 50 rounds. Went out and shot my T-14's for the first time (I've owned them for 5 years) I now know why the Japanese lost the war! The 10.12 functioned flawlessly and was ok on accuracy. But the 19.5 would not feed and would hang fire allot. It was not the ammo rather the poor construction or fit in the trigger mechanism. Started out with 3.2 grains of Win 231. It made for a very mild recoil and not too loud. I'll play with it now that I can load ammo cheap.

Hi Doug! Nambu's are a strange animal to say the least! I had one that I bought at an auction of WW2 vet...it was still in the original grease and the safty had never been rotated...by the end of the auction, after it had been handled a hundred times or more, the thing looked like it had been fired a thousand times, and fought the whole war by it's self!!....when I finally sold it, we took it apart to check the numbers, and the firing pin tip was broke, it had never been fired! I had another one where someone had pryed on the trigger assembly and it was just barely loose.....the disconnector wouldn't work, and the parts weren't/aren't interchangable!! I would prefer radoms to nambus, but that is just my opinion! till...later....G.T.

Well I picked one up, no I'm lying, my wife bought it as a present for me (1st and last time so far, ) and it shoots fine. A middle of the road gun, made in 1943 or 1944, but I don't remember.

I like it because it was the Japanese weapon, but obviously nothing like a Luger or P38, let alone a .45!

I have a minty Nambu rig that I have never shot but they are very interesting pistols. The Japanese did not lose the war because of the Nambu. I am sure it had more to do with some strange fire out of the sky that even blew our best scientists minds. Not once but twice! It was a real eye opener, I am sure.

Ref Nambus, the trigger on mine is so light that the first time I shot it was very unexpected. Complete surprise. It shot well for the remaining four shots I had in it but at $1.00 ea it hasn't been shot again. I got a second variation Radom a few weeks ago and I was very surprised how well it works. I really enjoy shooting it. It shoots as well as anything (except P08s of course) I've fired in its class. Not a shabby combat weapon at all. The Nambu is definitely not one.

Hi RGG! I have read several articals that point to radoms being a pretty reliable pistol....I think that I would have probably prefered a hi power with it's high capacity mag! A P.38 would work alright to!.......till....later....G.T.
