Default Cirelaw aka Eric Back In Hospital and Rehab

I'm writing to let my friends know that after next week I willl be out of commision for a second repair of a right ankle compound fracture. Last November I slipped in my bathroon causing a frature of my fibula and complete tear of several tendons and ligaments. After a week in icu and 4 weeks in a rehab hospital the fracture was not healing and was worsening. This week xrays were taken showing complete frature and searing of the screws that the must have bought from ace hardware. This week I saw a specialist that was an expert on this type of orthopedic disaster. A week from today he will have to remove all the hardware and reconstuct the bone, ligaments and tendons to heal, First a lower leg brace, and new hardware. Ill try to keep my friends and allies posted!

Eric,

So sorry to hear of this. You would think that in the 21st century in a developed country like the USA, we could do better.

Get well soon. Hurry back. No, come to think about it; tell them to take their time and get it right.

I did personal litigation for close to 25 years. Again the problem is communication. Our first appontment with the surgeon one week post, the xrays looked fine, no breaks. The following week with the physical terepist, my cast was removed and although pain I could get around with a walker. Two weeks later something snapped, severe lower leg pain. My new surgeon thinks the cast was possible removed too soon but the hard ware shouldnt have failed. He will know when he examines them post op next week. My prior doctor mearly said its a complication! Comp my Ask!! This new surgeon repairs fugg ups. I trust this new one! He went to Temple and I went to Villanova! Thank You all. I get more support from you then my inlaws or stupid soma comas!

Hang in there Eric. Even though it's your ankle, I'm sure that you also have some pain in the Axx.

Thank You, This is ironic, 5 years ago I was at my Orthopedic Dr Scott Katzman for my second shoulder surgery and fell in his waiting room fracturing my other ankle. Scott and Debbie couldn't stop laughing. They said it was like dying in a funeral home! True Story!!!

Eric, yuck...

I broke a bone in my left foot, after a year, it never fully healed and had to have a screw put in it.

Not the most fun in the world, and you take care my friend.

The problem is that they are weight bearing, He has to first remove what to prior doc put in. The bones are the least of the problems, the torn muscles and tendon contain to pain receptors then a warning of future problems ie arthritus. a stoke and coma were less painful. No one has given me a strait answer whet the screws broke! They say they are the least of my problems. Ed does it still bother you? If so whats good for pain. Alleve?

Wish you well.

But you need to be honest with them. Also fib a little and tell them your wife is an attorny also.

Doctors are very careful with attorneys.

I really never expected the outcry genuine best wishes. Ill keep you all informed of the date of surgery. It has been set for next thursday, 2=3 days in intensive care and a minimun 3-4 weeks in a rehab hospital. Probobly no access to a computer however Debbie will keep everyone informed. Thank You! Unfortunatle it takes times like this to really realize our other family we tegether share. Sure we have our differences but the solution of those diffences that bind us together, God Bless each and every true friend and family. Seriously!
