I just acquired a 1940 Luger, 3 digit SN 5XX, 42 on the toggle, all matching numbers. It has a good bore and rifling with a little micro pitting. About 80% finish. It has the black bakelite grips, I took them off and they both have 2 threaded holes on the back side of each one. On the right side is a couple of eagles with 655 under them. The magazine has a metal follower but a black plastic base plug...could be bakelite, marked FXO with 37 under it. I have another mag but it has a plastic follower with a wooden plug, no other marks. It has a holster but there are no markings on it and it was cut up to be used as a hip holster.
Just curious as to what I have. I read several posts and it looks like there are a lot of fake stuff out there. ![]() ![]()

I'm assuming you mean a black plastic magazine base?
