A friend has a 1912 Erfurt Luger, all the numbers seem to match except the mag which is an overstamp and it seems to have the same military proofs we have seen on others. The pistol has about 70% of what appears to be the original blue finish, except for the barrel which does not appear to have been blued however, it's external surfaces are in the same condition as the rest of the gun. It looks like its been there for 100 years.
The question I have is the barrel length. This gun has a 7" barrel (measured from muzzle to breech face)that appears to be in exactly the same condition as the rest of the pistol, though unmarked it is otherwise standard luger configuration. Someone said this may be a prototype. Have you ever heard of such a thing and is the 7" a length that was used? Thanks for your help with this. Dave ![]() |
