Default Erfurt 1917

Good Day All,

I was wondering what you all think of this 1917 Erfurt. I believe it to be matching with an arsenal refurbish and reblue. It has the Bcrown and RCcrown all over.

Is it all matching? Because the back of the side plate shows 13 (pics below), and the frame just above the grip shows 13 as well?

The mag is not matching, moldy, and there is a stamped R on the metal there.

The barrel is pretty pitted - would this affect it as a shooter at all?

Thank you very much from a newbie. Looking to get my first luger

Brent,

If this is being described or promoted as an "Arsenal Reblue", it isn't.
It has been buffed prior to refinishing. Buffing was not a practice used by any arsenal. It is and was an expedient and inexpensive method of removing the old finish and pitting used primarily by gunsmiths in the U.S., for a quicky cheap reblue.

The edges on the toggle and chamber top are rounded, they should be sharp and crisp. The same is true of the front of the frame and trigger guard. All lines and edges should be straight, sharp, crisp and clearly defined.

While this Luger may make for an okay shooter. It has absolutely no collector value left. At the most optimistic, it is at best a $400 gun. It is not an arsenal refinished gun.

Ron

Thanks Ron. Looks like a shooter only. I appreciate the info.

Brent,

You're welcome. Just out of curiosity, what is the asking price?

Ron,

Over twice your estimate if you can believe it. It's hard to find anything for much less on gbroker. Shows will probably have lower priced shooters available.
