Default Sear Safety

I'm looking a a beautiful Police Banner. All looks good, except the sear safety doesn't work. The pin through the spring and frame is loose and doesn't put enough pressure on the sear pin. It's not falling out, but??? Is this a common occurrence?

FN, are you sure that the trigger bar (sear) is drill for the pin to go into it, and thet the side plate is cut at the top? I do have both parts available for the sear safety, as well as new repro sear safeties. TH

Tom,

I think so. Breaking things down, I can push on the sear bar, and the safety pin/spring slides up. Or I can hold down on the safety spring and the sear safety works. The side plate is cut. The pin or rivet through the spring and frame is slack, and doesn't put enough tension on the spring. It needs a good whack! But I don't have the right tool, and don't want to de-form the rivet head. Taking the sear bar out of the frame, I see that it is drilled, and that the vertical pin is very short. No, I think it is the rivet not putting enough pressure on the back of the spring. Or the spring has been bent?

Norm, If your rivit is loose that could be the source of your problem. The sear bar should have 2 holes: one for the pin that holds in the disconnector and another for the sear safety pin. TH

Tom,

It is as you say. But it seems to me there is too much play at the spring rivet. This week, I'm going to side-by-side it with another police Banner that does work. Comparing the shape of the springs.

You can fix?
