Saw a Luger with a red dot at the safety. Could it be used in WWI & II?
Thanks. Last edited by vernonsmith; 07-14-2009 at 12:09 PM. |

Even WW1 lugers were used during the Nazi era if that is your collecting window.
If the pistol has military acceptance stamps from the German army, you're ok. Simple as that. The red dot at the safety lever is often seen on reworked East-German pistols, but these usually have the plastic VoPo grips with a bulls-eye logo in them. If the magazine is numbered to the gun and it is 2/1001 marked, then expect it to be a VoPo version. |

Thanks Vlim.
So does it still have any value at all even if it's been used by the VoPo? Not sure if it's been reblued before or not because the value will go down even further if it's been reblued? Last edited by vernonsmith; 07-14-2009 at 11:56 AM. |

The early 1937's (before s,t suffix) had a rust blue finish with strawed small parts. The later 1937's had a salt blued finish on all parts. What is the suffix on yours? None originally had the red dot. It's difficult to determine if the finish is original or not from your one photo.
