Default searching for photos ...

good morning gentleman

trying to establish an luger site here in austria, i'm doing some "research" for the time.
presenty trying to locate the manufactorers position like dwm, erfurt, simson, exactly on google earth.

some of them are found, with others i have my problems.

for example i can not locate vickers ltd., and pls don't lough, mausers old factory.
as i learned from you "read the books..." i ordered "mauser pistolen" on GGCA homepage.

but independently of that, who can help.
i'm looking out for pictures, old planes and documents to locate and documentate the luger producer plants

i attached an google earth kmz file with some entries. my favorites are erfurt and dwm at wittenau, here you can still see the old factories.
klick it, download it and display it at google earth

the second dwm location i could only locate by adress, (dorotheerstrasse 35), but i dont know if my entry is correct, noting of the old buildings is to see..

pls help ...
need pics ...
need plans ...

regards from austria, wolfganggo

wolfganggo,

I believe that the Luger e-book series by Gerard Henrotin (whose luger animation graces our home page) will provide at least some of the details you are looking for. You can find the link to his e-books on this page:

http://collectorebooks.com/gregg01/g...ER-PISTOLS.htm

"The Luger Producers" should be your first e-book acquisition.

Hi,

The Mauser factory is still visible on the map, locate 'Oberndorf am Neckar' and search for the cloister building. Behind it is a railroad track, across the track there are the buildings that remain of the main complex and nowadays house Rheinmetall Defense and Mauser Messwerkzeug GmbH. In between is Otto Repa's workshop.

The local museum is housed in the former 'Schwedenbau' of the Mauser complex, while the old cloister is now a concert hall, police office and mayor's office.

This may help:

Other helpful coordinates:
Mauser, Oberndorf am Neckar: 48°17'18.93"N - 8°34'40.89"E
DWM, Karlsruhe branch: 49° 0'7.03"N - 8°23'1.17"E
DWM, Berlin branch: 52°34'49.56"N - 13°18'58.01"E
DWM, Lubeck branch: 53°52'50.31"N - 10°46'21.03"E
London, burial site of sir Hiram Stevens Maxim: 51°26'0.89"N - 0° 6'8.58"W
Manufacture Francaise d'Armes et Cycles, st. Etienne: 45°25'40.29"N - 4°24'8.19"E
Manufrance Paris office: 48°51'45.36"N - 2°20'31.54"E

The DWM Dorotheenstrasse location was only a sales office and it was bombed to oblivion in 1945. The plot is still vacant and the last thing I heard the Quandt family is negotiating return of ownership of the plot. You can imagine that a piece of undeveloped land in the middle of Berlin has some value now.

I visited the DWM location in Berlin Wittenau (Borsigwalde) a couple of years ago. The Berlin State Archive is housed in one of the buildings now.

Default i got some krieghoff pictures a few days ago

after getting in touch with an habitant of suhl, he send me some pictures of krieghoff waffenfabrik as you will find the old buildings today.
first see an overview about the buildings still existing today. i got an photo taken 1945 from an american reconnaissance aircraft, from the book "krieghoff" (Hans J¼rgen fritze) with this aerial picture and an panorama taken also about this years, i went to google earth and after close examination, the following overview was made.

the numbers written within the overview identify the closeups. just move with the mouse over the closeup and the picturename will be displayed. so its easy to get a correlation.
also i attach them in numerical order ....
