I posted a few days ago asking about a shooter Luger that I was thinking about purchasing, but I just had little info and the pics I had were not that good. Well, I bought it and I think I did well. I have no business with a collector grade weapon as the idea of having a gun I can't shoot would be to great a temptation. I would shoot it and something would break! I now have the gun. It is a Mauser 42 with a 1939 date, numbered 8163t. All numbers match including one magazine and one grip panel. The other mag is not marked at all, and the other grip is in better shape and numbered 62 D. The unmatched grip has the million dollar chip. The bore is dark but has very good groves. The Luger was re-blued, but the Smith did a great job leaving all markings in-tack and even put the "white" in the numbers and markings. There is some tiny blued over pitting on the frame under grips. To the untrained eye it looks great! $750 shipped for the gun would have been a fair price. But what is REALLY cool is the holster. It looked like it was in bad shape but when I opened the box I could not believe how good it looks! It has its share of scuffs and scratches, but there are no cracks. All the parts are together and the stiching looks very good. The markings on the back are dlo or dla and WaA195 under the eagle. My Luger books have not come yet, so can somebody help with the dlo. I have searched and have come up blank. The only bad thing I can find on the holster is a name lightly scratched on the flap. It is very hard to read but I think its Sgt. Hub??emat. The holster is very dark brown, almost black and has a take-down tool marked 730. I really think I like the holster as much as the Luger! Is there a tutorial on posting pics, I will get the ones he sent me posted. We lost the camera battery charger a few weeks ago and just ordered a new one. Thanks, Tim
