Ok, again I'm asking questions and not contributing much. (See me at Dick Culver's M1Rifle Forum and I'm actually knowedgable and helpful).
This Erfurt I inherited recently presents questions. It has a four digit serial number stamped on the frame under the barrel (2X58), and on the top left of the frame as well. All the appropriate parts have 58 stamped on them as well. Even the magazine is stamped with the four digit serial #. Now, I need to know exactly what is a police sear, and a mag safety? I'm not sure if it has either, or where to look for them. Any advise? Karl |

Karl,
A magazine safety is a flat bar that is attached under the side plate. It protrudes trough a notch cut in the top leading edge of the left grip making a 90 degree bend in behind the trigger to form a trigger stop when the magazine is removed. Most, if still present (rare) will be clipped off at the 90 degree bend in order to deactivate them. If it has been completely removed, there will be a notch cut in the top leading edge of the left grip( if the grips are original). And there will be a 1/4" hole drilled in the frame under the side plate. This is a sear safety.. ![]()
