Hello, I have a 1916 DWM Luger whose grip has a very small chip beneath and to the right of the safety lever. My question is can you give me the contacts to some fellow members willing to make the repair? Does this small chip effect value or is it just one wants it repaired to not have to look at it (as with me)?
I do have one more question. Should I consider cleaning the grips on an original piece or leave as is? Thank you, Jeff |

Send them to Hugh on this forum. He does amazing work and can clean, recheck, and repair your grips.

Send them to Hugh. The damage to the value is already done, if they had matching #s. A quality repair will only add value back at this point, and the quality of his work must be seen to be believed.

I have a 1900 AE with perfect (non-chipped) and numbers matching grips but they are dark and dirty. Should I also consider having them cleaned to increase value? Or, is the collector value better if they are left alone. The pistol is a very fine example with 98% blue and 95%+ straw remaining.

My opinon...Given that the rest of the gun is 98% original, do not touch the grips. It took 100 years to get that way, they deserve to stay that way.
