Default Should I buy this Luger?

Hello, all.....
I have been looking for a decent WWII era Luger for some time, now....!I've been offered The Luger that is pictured in the attached photos.
I trust the person who wishes to sell it, but it never hurts to gather opinions from various sources......

His description follows:

"Very nice all matching reblue S42 1936 for $800.00. All matching numbers except for the clip....Clear markings-not all buffed out. Bore is average. Would be a good shooter-nice and tight. Let me know."

I recognize the fact that it's reblued, and not being a gun collector, per se, this doesn't matter to me (unless it SHOULD).
Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Bob.

Hi Bob,

Welcome to the forum. $700-$800 is about the average for a nice shooter grade Luger. If the reblue doesn't bother you, then that's all you need.

Ron

if the grips and magazine are original, that would boost the value quite a bit. Good luck with your purchase!

Bob,

The wooden grips appear (from the small photo) that it might be a wooden magazine for the '24 Bern Swiss Luger.

Can you get a photo of the bottom of the wooden magazine.

If it is Swiss, they sell for $ 150-200 or so depending on condition.

I think an aluminum bottomed magazine would look better in this gun and would be more period correct.

Bob: Looks like a good shooter at about the going price. I have rarely been unhappy with the guns I have bought but many times unhappy with the ones I passed on. Bill

I would need to see the inside of the grips in a real clear focus photon to determine if they are original, but my initial impression is that they are reproduction BW grips.

A reasonable price for a nice looking shooter IMHO.

Also, for Bill (Lyon) thanks for upgrading and using your photo as your avatar... it makes communicating a much more personal event than a cartoon or other image. Nice to know you in person from long distance.
