Just picked up this 1936 shooter. It has a 42 code "61" toggle assemble on it but other wise has a matching lower end 4518p with matching firing pin.
It has a black finish, almost like a dip? And is British marked under the barrel. There is also a proof on the right side receiver next to the nazi military proofs I cant make out? Almost looks like a crown??? The same mark is on each part of the toggle and on the left rear side of the frame. Maybe a British proof? Came with two magazines. One looks to be a type 2 replacement with no marking other than a number "3" stamped on the SIDE of the base. The base may be filed down??? The other one has a phosphate tube and a blank base that has not been messed with. Still has the cast Marks on it. But whats up with the follower grip? I removed the "dip" with a little acidtone and it reveled a milaitary blue finish? |

Here is a picture of a British proof mark BNP with a crown over the top. I could not make this out on the pictures you provided.

Here are some pixs of all know British proof marks. I hope this helps you out. Their are a number of reasonable price camera's out their with good micro features for close ups. I use a Cannon SD630.

Tenbears,
Thank you for the info. Unfortunately I only notice the NP1 mark on the barrel! Cant make out the one on the slide and frame? I do have a Canon A620 that's not that old. It did work great on the close ups when I first got it, but doesnt want to focus on the small stuff any more. I sent it back to the factory once and they said it was fixed! Ya right!!! I purposely purchased it for this reason. Now back to square one!!! Bob |
