Default 1918 Scoped Erfurt Luger?

This is a WWII vet bringback all matching (as far as I can tell) 1918 Erfurt Luger that appears to have some kind of modification to allow a scope to be mounted. The 1916 holster has a slot cut in it to allow for the scope. Was this something that was done at the armory or did bubba do this? It came with 2 magazines as shown but I couldn't find a serial number on either mags.

There are lots of pictures at this link:

Would someone be so kind as to estimate what this whole setup is worth?

Unfortunately, the news is not good. The rig has no collector value. It is a Bubba's basement special and the modifications have pretty much distroyed the gun and hoster (well, not exactly destroyed because you can still fire the Luger and carry it in the holster - so the function is still there but the worth isn't).

Ron, it won't function too good with that broken ejector!

Since the collector value of this Luger has been lost, I would take advantage of the work that has been done... have the gun reblued, and if you don't have the original scope mount, find a machinest friend and have one fabricated... it should at least make an interesting shooter... with an appropriate pistol scope mounted...

Since the Luger is top ejecting, your mount should include a surface that would bounce the ejected shell casings off to the left...

You can get a replacement ejector from several sources... I would try Tom Heller first... (Lugerdoc).

I would only estimate the value to be between $250-$450 for the parts... as a shooter, the enjoyment value is limited only by your time, ammunition and a safe place to shoot...

I would keep it and use it as recommended above... although you could have this frame welded and restored, the price would be much more than gun is currently worth...
