Need advice for value (picture)
I was going to send this to lugerholsterrepair because I think this holster is worth saving. That was over a year ago and it's still sitting in my closet. Now I'm thinking about selling it and sure would appreciate any suggestions as to it's value. The pictures pretty much tell the story. Although worn looking the leather and straps are strong, not cracking. One of the belt loops is a bad replacement and the other needs to be re-stitched. Overall the stitching looks good except the hinged area as you can see in the picture. The back is marked P.08, the maker is OCX and it's dated 1941.

John, I estimate to restore this as Top restitched to body, $35.00..Restitch loose belt loop and make or find original belt loop to match and install. $35.00.
I am on the road in Houston TX. Just left Collectors..Quite a shop. They have several nice Lugers, Not as many as I expected, several Artillerie's and a good looking Navy. The help seemed not overly Friendly..Taciturn as a matter of fact. Not any reasonable leather..They told me if they get something good it rarely stays overnight. If this holster were restored and Collectors had it, they would ask $350.00. They only had one Luger holster in the place for sale.... Hope the estimate helps, Jerry

Hi Jerry,
If I recall correctly, this is the Navy this shop has had FS for sometime : http://www.collectorsfirearms.com/pr5633.htm More importantly, if I recall correctly, one of our Forum members had tis one sent to his home for a possibly buy. It went back the next day, as I recall it had the small rear toggle pin flange set-up. That info. was conveyed with the return of the gun. But no change to the FS ad was made after that transaction or it its asking price... |

Your quite correcty re that Navy, and a similar story on that Dutch Navy (PR5597), they have had for a while. I don't think anything is going on, I have purchased a number of good items from over the years, they are just not Luger specialist like FGS or Simpsons, although it is troubling that in both cases they have not modified their descriptions when the pistols where returned for cause. |

I just visited collectors this week and I had the chance to inspect this gun. It does have the large toggle pin flange. The gun is all matching. I did not see a number on the firing pin as I turned the toggle upwards to look into the groove. I did not disassembled it since I was not going to buy it at the time. Other than that, the gun looks pretty good.
I went to the back room to check out the real nice stuff and I found a nice Ideal stock with a pair of Ideal grips just sitting in a box on the floor next to several old holsters. Off course, I needed it bad enough that I bought the set. Mr. Mike Clark (owner) was very helpful and gave me a good price. If there is something at Collectors that you would like me to check out for you, please let me know and I will be happy to help you out. Thanks, Tony "SEMEPER PARATUS" |
