Default Help on appraisal:1939 Luger

I aquired a Luger marked 1939 with a holster marked 1938 from my father's estate. The story goes that my father took it off a German officer and brought it back from Europe after WWII. This gun is in remarkably good shape. Holster wear but no rust is visible to me. All parts appear to be matching numbers. As far as I know this gun has not been fired since my brother and I fired three rounds from it in the early 1960s.

Eventually this gun/holster will be sold to raise funds to defray cost of Aldzhimers care for my mother. But it needs to have some kind of "official" appraisal or maybe not for sale on this forum or locally.

This is a request for someone with knowledge of Lugers and in the California/Oregon border for assistance. I would be willing to travel to you and pay an appraisal fee to get this done. Anybody that can assist please post here or email me at: JohnHenryEllis@hotmail.com. I will try to post pictures some time this week when I can borrow a camera from work.

John ,

Where are you located? Russ lives near Crater Lake. Contact him to see if he would be open to doing so.

Click on "search" in the upper RH corner and type in "Russ" to send him a PM or e-mail.

Ron

Hey Russ:
I private emailed you. If possible I would preferr to travel to your location for an appraisal, or do something by photo and email, or if you have business that takes you down I-5. Let me know what works out best for you.

You are welcome to send pictures to me, and I can pass them to russ ahead of time (I am on broadband, he is on dial-up, unless you are adept at shrinking pictures).

Russ,

Hope you don't mind my volunteering your services. You don't have anything better to do anyway. I mean it's not like you actually work or anything...

See you at Reno?

John,
You couldn't be in better hands with Russ. I would trust him with Ed's life. And he knows Luger values. Somewhat honest and kind of knows what he's talking about.

Ron

I am glad you said that with a "L" and not a 'w"

I wouldn't trust Russ with anybodies wife.

Although there are times that I would gladly give him mine, but I'm sure that he would want to give her back as soon as he healed.

Kind of like being married to a chainsaw with a loose bar.

Hey Bud,

It goes by faster than you expect it to. Didn't think I would ever get out of that pit. It's been nearly a year already. On Feb. 25th.

32 years, and it went by like 32 weeks, looking back, it was one big blur.
