not quite sure of what you require by way of the info, as you stated it is a conversion kit for the po8 and your dating is correct,late 30's however if police procured it will have police acceptance marking on toggle conversion, manufacture is Erma Werke.

These were used as training units

Hi,

Looks good to me at first glance. This is the early style box with cleaning set. They were replaced by the smaller boxes and the cleaning set was removed from the package, being replaced by seperate cleaning kits for multiple guns.

It's not a postwar Erma set, that's for sure.

This is a period drawing from a prewar Erma sales brochure:


From the army manual (1935 revision):

Aufbewahrungskasten.
Der Aufbewahrungskasten enth�¤lt au�?er den Teilen des S.E.L. das Reinigungsger�¤t: Wischstock, Wischstockf�¼hrung, Wischer und Reinigungsb�¼rste. eine besondere Einlassung dient zum Aufbewahren des aus der Pistole herausgenommenen Auswerfers. Bei eingesetztem S.E.L. werden Verschlu�? und Magazin der Pistole 08 in den entsprechenden Einlassungen untergebracht.
Der Aufbewahrungskasten f�¼r die neu gefertigten S.E.L. enth�¤lt keine Einlassungen f�¼r das Reinigunsger�¤t. Er ist dementsprechend kleiner gehalten.

VII. Stempeln.
Stempelung der S.E.L. mit Zubeh�¶r nach h.Dv. 464, Teil: Allgemeine Vorbemerkungen, Anlage 1, und Teil 1 II A. 1 a, b u. c.
Einstecklauf: rechte obere Flache des hintergelenks, Bezeichnung von links lesbar. Reicht diese Flache nicht aus, Mitbenutzung der linken.
Aufbewahrungskasten: obere Seite des Deckels in der Mitte (Pr�¤gestempel).
Nur mit Kompanie- usw. Nr. und lfd. Nr.:
Wischstock: 1 cm vor dem Holzgriff auf der Stahlstange. Wischer und Reinigungsb�¼rste: auf dem Gewindeteil.
Wischstockf�¼hrung: obere flache.

Original commercial sales price was 22.50 Reichsmark for the version with a fixed sight and 24.50 RM for one with an adjustable one.

Prices have gone up a bit since then
