John D,
thanks for your prompt hookup.......... Evening All, from a cold Georgia tonite......I am from over at the great P.38 forum that John runs........kudos to you sir !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! am looking forward to posting and learning more about the intricacies of this pistol........my first couple of days with this piece of history have been very interesting indeed!!!! Sunday, went to a gunshow in Columbus, Georgia, military town and all, you just never know what will fall out of the woodwork............ the only thing i saw that was worth a second look and then purchasing was..... 1914 chamber date DWM Luger with only one magazine was in a 1936 dated Gebruder Klinge Weimar Eagle waA 142 waffenamt holster: holster in very good shape with unmarked takedown tool....... Pistol was all matching, serial # 9679 magazine wood bottom, wood floorplate, number almost indistinguishable but i don't think it matches ![]() ![]() would rate the blueing at 95-98% but i know thats a subjective thing and everybody has their own opinions......... Pics as follows and opinions solicited................ TIA, Regards, Paul |

Welcome Paul!
You can post pictures by either one at a time like you did, or you can see at the top, Upload Photo, then copy and paste into the IMG area and post as many as you like. Upload, copy, paste each one. Ed |

Paul, hoped someone would answer you.
A halo is when the dies strike the metal and produces a slightly lighter color. I am traveling, so can't remember the order of striking serial number, etc, whether before blueing or afterwards. Ed |

Paul, Are those import marking that I see below the proofing on the right side of your receiver? I'd first removed the top assy of your luger and check to see if your original mag is pushing up the hold open when empty. You probably should have a new production mag for shooting anyway to save wear & tear on the original. I sell these starting @$20. Also repro grips starting @$15 to save these. TH

Tom,
Have gone over it with a jeweler's loop out in the sun and no import marks anywhere !!!!! after i got it sunday, went to another collector friends house and he disassembled it and we checked what your talking about and with no top end on pistol the block goes up fine...........after reassemble i used his mag out of his 1916 DWM and toggles lock back fine...........so my apparent diagnosis is a weak mag spring, could even tell the difference between his and mine outside of gun................min only locks back very intermittently also noted that mag doesn't seat up tight to base of magwell....1/8" play or so.............is it posible to restretch mag spring or get a period one to make original function for future display ???????? will contact you to get an aftermarket mag if i decide to shoot it.... TIA, Regards, Paul |
